Fair Housing Policy
MiamiLi is committed to the letter and the spirit of U.S. policy for the achievement of equal housing opportunity throughout the nation. We encourage and support an affirmative advertising and marketing program in which there are no barriers to obtaining housing because of race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status or national origin.
Our Commitment
We conduct our business in accordance with the federal Fair Housing Act (the Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988). It is illegal to discriminate against any person because of race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status or national origin:
- in the sale or rental of housing or residential lots;
- in advertising the sale or rental of housing;
- in the financing of housing;
- in the provision of real estate brokerage services;
- in the appraisal of housing.
Blockbusting & Steering
“Blockbusting” is also illegal. We do not engage in the practice of persuading owners to sell or rent by telling them that people of a particular race, religion and so on are moving into the neighborhood. We also avoid “steering” — the practice of directing clients toward particular neighborhoods on the basis of race, religion and the like.
